As
quantity surveyors we can advise you on the best practice in selecting a suitable contractor to execute the
construction works. Small contracts are usually let (tendered) on specifications and drawings, however the slightly more expensive up-front costs in getting a
surveyor to prepare a priceable document, either in an itemised form or with a full measure (bills of quantities), can often be more cost-effective and lead to a far more competitive tender.
We can also assist in the post-contract stage of the contract by agreeing and recommending stage payments (valuations) to the contractor and also measure, and agree on, any variations to the contract as the work proceeds. Settlement of a final account follows the construction process. The practice can also advise and assist in project management (co-ordination) if required.
